Political leaders and elders of Edo North People’s Democratic Party (PDP) led by former Chief of Staff to President Goodluck Jonathan, Chief Mike Oghiadomeh, storm the headquarters of Etsako East Local Government in Agenebode to inaugurate the PDP local government campaign council with Hon. Moses Agbukor, former commissioner for water resources, as Director-General of the campaign council with other political office holders, leaders, and stalwarts as members.
While inaugurating the committee, the former Deputy Chief Whip of the Senate, Francis Alimikhena, described the inauguration ceremony as planting of a victory tree, and appealed to all members of the committee to remain true to themselves and the party by supporting the PDP wholeheartedly.
He frowned at those who have decided to remain in the party to work against the party, and repeatedly asked whether those who previously worked against the party have been rewarded by the opposition that used them. He tasked every member of the committee to remain focused and dedicated as the jubilation of Asue Ighodalo’s victory will starts now.
Earlier in his remark, the former Deputy Governor of the State and former Chief of Staff to the President, Chief Mike Oghiadomhe, said PDP in Edo North has the winning streak, saying the only secret to winning is the quantity of votes cast. He said PDP took time and effort in selecting a candidate who is the best for the state, and described Asue Ighodalo as a man that possesses humility, honesty, and track record of success.
“Ighodalo has all it takes to develop Etsako, Akoko-Edo and Owan but he cannot actualise his developmental plan except we deliver him in the forthcoming election. We are not just seeking to win but to win with heavy margin”, he said.
On his part, the Deputy Director-General of the PDP campaign council in Etsako Federal Constituency, Rt. Hon. Paschal Ugbome, said the PDP candidate Dr Asue Ighodalo is passionate about the Edo Project as a development scientist. “We believe he will bring development to all the local government areas in Edo North. Also speaking, Senator Oyofo described the PDP elders’ forum as a pathfinder of the party, calling on all members to unite to secure victory for the party.
While welcoming members of the PDP Leaders and elders’ forum to the inauguration of the Etsako East Campaign Council, the Chairman of the Council, Hon. (Princess) Benedicta Attoh, used the acronym, TEAM, to appeal to everyone to work together in achieving the common objectives of the campaign council, saying, “Together Everyone Achieves More (TEAM).”
In his thank you speech to the leaders and elders of the PDP Campaign Council for finding him worthy and for believing in him, the Director-General of the Etsako East PDP Campaign Council, Hon. Moses Agbukor assured the leaders of his total commitment to the responsibility given to him, calling on all members of the campaign council to join hands with him in achieving the common goal of winning the forthcoming Edo State governorship election.
High point of the inauguration was the observing of a minute’s silence in honour of the former PDP National Leader, High Chief Raymond Dokpesi.
