… says Abdulsalami an exemplary statesman
Edo State Deputy Governor, Engr. Godwins Marvellous Omobayo has described the leadership qualities of former Head of State, General Abdulsalami Abubakar (Rtd), as inspiring and worthy of emulation by Nigerian leaders, to deliver the dividends of democracy.
The Deputy Governor made the disclosure when he received the former Nigerian Head of State on behalf of Governor Godwin Obaseki at the Benin Airport.
Omobayo said he was privileged and highly honoured to see and be in the company of the former Nigerian leader while describing him as an exemplary elder statesman.
General Abdulsalami Abubakar and his entourage arrived the Benin Airport in a Jet marked N384EM.
Speaking to newsmen, Abdulsalami said he was in Benin to honour the 25th anniversary of Igbinedion University, Okada (IUO).
According to Abdulsalami: “l once served in Edo State as a young officer during my active years as a military officer. Edo is a place of hospitality.”
The former Nigerian Head of State is expected to proceed to Okada, the country home of Chief Dr. Gabriel Osawaru Igbinedion, the Esama of Benin Kingdom and founder of Igbinedion University, Okada, for the 25th Anniversary celebration of the Ivory Tower on Friday, May 10.
