Chairman of Etasko Central Local Government Area, Hon. Solomon Obomighie, commends the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) for approving the extension of the Continuous Voter Registration (CVR) exercise in all the centres at the LGA. The extension, which runs from June 6 to June 9, 2024, aims to ensure that more eligible individuals have the opportunity to register to vote during the forthcoming governorship election.
During a meeting held on June 4, the INEC discussed various matters, including the progress of the ongoing CVR in Etasko Central and surrounding areas. The decision to extend the registration period underscores INEC’s commitment to facilitating increased citizen participation in the electoral process.
Hon. Obomighie emphasizes the importance of voter registration as a fundamental right and civic duty of every eligible citizen, and encourages all residents of Etasko Central and its environs to take advantage of this extension period to ensure that they participate in the upcoming elections.
The chairman urged community leaders, civil society organizations, and all stakeholders to mobilize eligible individuals to participate in the voter registration exercise. He also calls on INEC officials to ensure a smooth and efficient registration process during this extension period.
