A pan-African organization under the aegis of NBM of Africa, Oginigba Chapter, under Port-Harcourt Zone, has donated a 1,600-watt solar-powered borehole to Oginigba Community in Obio/Akpor Local Government Area of Rivers State.
The humanitarian event, it was learnt, was part of the organization’s Corporate Social Responsibility to give back to the community and support the welfare of the people.
It was gathered that the 1,600-watt solar-powered borehole is a significant investment in the community’s water infrastructure.
This borehole, which was handed over to the community on May 18th, is designed to provide clean water to the residents of Oginigba, reducing the risk of water-borne diseases.
Speaking on the development, president of NBM of Africa, Port Harcourt Zone, Chief Brain Gokpa, thanked members of the Oginigba Chapter for the borehole project in the area.
Gokpa, who was represented at the ceremony by his deputy, Mr. Eguono Akpevwe Kelvin, maintained that the project would no doubt bring succour to the people in the locality, especially in the area of potable water,
He recalled some previous projects done by the Oginigba Chapter to include renovation of the police post in the community and handing out over 1,000 exercise books to students of Oginigba Community Secondary School.
The chairman (parliamentary) of Port-Harcourt Zone, Chief Henry Oduose, commended the Oginigba Chapter for embarking on the project, saying NBM of Africa is dedicated to alleviating the suffering of people in any environment they are found.
In his opening address, the coordinator, Oginigba Chapter of NBM of Africa, Comrade Maxwell Dike, said the donation of the solar-powered borehole would provide clean water to thousands of people, reducing the risk of water-borne diseases and improving the overall health and well-being of the community.
Responding, the paramount ruler of Oginigba Kingdom, Eze (Dr.) G. B. Odum (JP), thanked the organisation for the borehole project in his kingdom, describing it as laudable. He tasked other groups to emulate the philanthropic gestures of the NBM of Africa, stressing that it would go a long way to affect the society positively.
The people of the community said the 1,600-watt solar-powered borehole by NBM of Africa, Oginigba Chapter, is a commendable gesture that demonstrates the organization’s commitment to giving back to the community. They said the borehole would have a significant impact on the lives of the people in Obio/Akpor, providing them with access to clean water and supporting their overall well-being.
