The children, grandchildren and great grandchildren of Hon. Paul Agheru Adam Onaiwu rolled out the drums in celebration of their patriarch who turned 90 years on May 30, 2024.

As part of the celebration, the family held a thanksgiving service on Sunday, June 2, and thereafter held a reception for guests at Hon. Onaiwu’s home at Okhoro in Egor Local Government Area of Edo State.

In a birthday message earlier, they wished him a happy birthday and prayed to God to grant him many more years on earth.

The nonagenarian was born in Iyowa Village, Ovia-North East LGA. of Edo State. He began his early education at Anglican Primary School, Evboneka, Ovia North East, in 1946, and got his first appointment as a pupil teacher in February 1955.

Hon. Onaiwu later attended P.T.T.C. (Teacher Training College) Abudu in Orhionmwon LGA, where he obtained Teacher’s Grade 3 Certificate in 1962. He also attended Teacher Training College Asaba, obtaining Teacher’s Grade 2 Certificate in 1966. He taught for 21 years before joining Iyobosa Enterprises as a site supervisor in 1976.

In 1979, he joined politics and he was appointed Legislative Supervisory Councillor for Oredo in 1983. He also was a member of the Tourism Board in 2002.

A well-known leader in politics, a man of goodwill and leader of his immediate community, he is generally loved by people for his selflessness, generosity, philanthropy, and patriotism.
