The Edo State government has commended the Freedom Group for its contribution to the development of solid mineral mining in the state.

The government through the Commissioner in Edo State Ministry of Business Trade and Co-operatives, Hon. Patrick Irria Uanseru, gave the commendation when he led management staff of the ministry on a courtesy call on the Freedom Group at their headquarters in Benin City.

Hon. Uanseru, while commending the company, said, “As part of the finishing well strategy of His Excellency, the Governor of Edo State, Godwin Enogheghase Obaseki, has mandated our ministry to organise a trade fair, which will be taking place in Benin City, in the month of August.

“And the fair is intended to bring every company from all sectors: Agriculture, Telecoms, Oil/Gas, technology, etc. together.

“As the name implies, it’s going to be a mega event and we felt that we cannot have a mega event in Edo without involving a mega company like yours, the Freedom Group for support and sponsorship.

“This fair is also an opportunity for the Freedom Group to come to the podium to showcase what they have. I was just told that Olivia Table Water is a product of Freedom Group, and I’m happy because that is the water I drink both at home and in my office. So, we’ve been doing “Freedom,” Uanseu said, humorously.

“We have come to appeal to you and we’re counting on your support for the trade fair. The fair is government driven, but sponsorship is private sector and also because of the role you have played in the mining of solid minerals in Edo State, you’re the most appropriate company to help us coordinate that ecosystem, so that some of your colleagues too can join at the fair because, this fair is going to be hosting both local and international businesses.

“So, it’s an opportunity to bring your colleagues to join us at the fair”.

Mr. Joel Edionwe, retired Permanent Secretary in the Ministry, while lending his voice, said, “Like the Honourable commissioner said, Freedom Group being a player in the solid minerals sector, we’re providing avenues for linkages, for joint ventures from within and outside the country.

“If investors want to come, those already in, what is the room for expansion? What is the role of linkages, joint ventures, what are we doing? What’s even the technology that can be adapted in this space in all the sectors?

These are some of the issues we were bringing to the table”, Edionwe said.

Responding, Director, Sales and Corporate Affairs of the Freedom Group, Bridget Osagiede, said, “We’re glad that we’ve always been in partnership, it’s also good to know that you’re patronizing our sister company, the Olivia Table Water”.

She promised to relay the message and get back in due course.

Highpoint of the visit was the presentation of the letter sponsorship request to Osagiede by Hon. Patrick Irria Uanseru.
