In an industry marked by fierce competition and rigorous standards, Asky Airlines has emerged as the ‘Best Airline in West Africa 2023’. This accolade, reflecting the airline’s commitment to excellence, is a significant milestone in its journey to redefine air travel in the region.
Founded with the vision to bridge the connectivity gap across Africa, Asky Airlines has continually raised the bar in service delivery, safety, and operational efficiency. The award was bestowed on the airline at the seventh Accraweizo held in Accra, Ghana, recently.
Ikechi Uko, the organiser of the event, said that the airline was named the best carrier in the West African region for its consistency in promoting not just the region, but the entire African continent.
The glamorous ceremony convened, is an annual event held in Accra by Uko.
Uko explained that Asky was presented with the award in recognition of its huge contribution to the development of the airline sub-sector in the West Africa sub region.
Esayas WoldeMaria, the Managing Director, Asky Airlines who collected the award on behalf of the airline, expressed delight with the recognition.
WoldeMaria explained that the award would spur the airline to continue to improve on its services to its customers and appreciated the organizers for recognising the contribution of the airline to the aviation sector in the region.
He also lauded the organisers of Accraweizo for promoting West Africa and the continent’s travels through its annual conference.
He said: “We are delighted to have won this award as the ‘Best African Airline 2023’ in West Africa. The award means a lot to us. I would like to sincerely express my gratitude to each one of our customers for their confidence in our services.”
Asky Airlines is a private multinational passenger airline serving West and Central Africa, with its head office in Lomé, Togo and its hub at Gnassingbé Eyadéma International Airport. The airline is a strategic partner of Ethiopian Airlines and has been consistently profitable since 2017.
The airline is privately owned with main shareholders as Ethiopian Airlines (40 per cent), Ecobank, BIDC, BOAD, Sakhumnotho Group Holding, and other West and Central African private investors as well as the Togolese government having a minority stake of 14.39 per cent.
The airline presently has about 15 aircraft in its fleet with an average age of 11.2 years.
