Popular Nollywood actor, Destiny Etiko, has expressed her vexation with the excitement of Nigerians over the return of Big Brother Naija (BBN) despite the ongoing economic challenges and security concerns in the country.

The actor, also known as the “Drama Queen”, on Monday, 29th July, took to her Instagram page to criticize Nigerians for being happy about the season 9 of the reality TV show which premiered on Sunday, 28th July, amidst the economic hardship facing citizens, suggesting that the show distracts from more serious issues.

“E don red for our country and I still dey see some people dey happy about BBN, hmmmmm na wa oooo,” she wrote.

Destiny Etiko went further to raise concerns that Nigerians still have the money to buy subscriptions to watch the BBNaija show amidst the economic hardship, and are not complaining about it.

“Una still get money for data abi? If you guys do not complain, then who am I to do so?”

Furthermore, the actress stated her concern for the poor masses, saying, “I’m majorly concerned about the poor masses though; that you can survive does not mean everyone can o.”

She also said she was worried about how crimes and insecurity have become the order of the day and called for early response to this menace.

“Crime is now happening everywhere, insecurity has now become order the day and everyone is literally calm, the earlier the better,” she wrote.

Meanwhile, media personality and host of BBN’s “THE BUZZ” show, Toke Makinwa, boasted that she will not be affected negatively despite the current economic hardship in the nation.

Nigeria has been facing its worst hardship in recent years with some citizens gearing up to protest over the worsening economic hardship and poor governance.

But Toke Makinwa, in an Instagram post, said she won’t settle for less because she has backing.
