The Edo State House of Assembly on Wednesday commiserated with the people and the families of victims of the Jattu Market tragedy.

Recall that on Monday, 11 persons lost their lives to a tragic incident in Jattu, Etsako West Local Government Area, when three trees uprooted and fell on the victims in Jattu Market during a rain storm.

The member representing Etsako West Constituency 2, Hon. Gani Akokhai, brought the attention of the House to the tragedy, adding that 11 persons lost their lives while several others were injured.

He called on the House and the state government to address the present condition of the market with a view to rendering assistance to the victims.

Meanwhile, the Speaker, Rt. Hon. Blessing Agbebaku, while sympathizing with the member and the people of Jattu over the tragic incident, assured him that the House would assist the victims in off-setting medical bills incurred in course of treatment.

The Speaker thereafter constituted a five-man delegation to visit and commiserate with the victims and families of the Jattu Market incident.

Also, the House on Wednesday passed two bills, which includes a bill for a law to provide for the prohibition and control of parking on roads and highways in Edo State and to repeal the establishment and management of parking lots for mechanically propelled trucks in Edo State 2002, and a bill for a law to repeal the Edo State Municipal Transport Services Law 1993 and to amend some provisions of the Edo State Transport Law 2018.
