The coordinator of a prominent Muslim group in Edo State, the Edo Muslim for Equity and Good Governance (EMEGG), Ameer Sirajudeen Muhammad has appealed to residents of Edo State especially Muslims and Nigerians at large to shun the planned nationwide protest scheduled for next week.
Ameer Sirajudeen Muhammad, made this plea during a sensitization campaign at Okpella in Etsako East Local Government Area of Edo State.
He expressed deep concern over the potential negative consequences of the protest, emphasizing that past protests have often led to the destruction of public infrastructure and private property. He argued that such actions disproportionately affect ordinary citizens and undermine the overall well-being of the nation.
Instead of resorting to protests, the EMEGG coordinator urged Nigerians to embrace dialogue and prayer as more effective means of addressing the country’s challenges.
He acknowledged the prevailing economic hardship but stressed that the government is not immune to these difficulties.
Ameer Sirajudeen also raised concerns about the motives of some protest organizers, alleging that they exploit such events for personal gain, often targeting businesses owned by struggling citizens.
He called on Nigerians to be vigilant and resist being used as pawns in the hands of unscrupulous individuals.
He said:” We appeal. There’s growing tension in the country presently over economic hardship and other socio-political issues. As parents, we must talk to our children to stay away from this. Let us convince them on the need to result to dialogue and prayers for our leaders and this country ”
As the nation braces for the planned protest, the call for peace and dialogue has resonated with many, especially in communities like Okpella where the impact of such disturbances could be devastating.
“We pray Allah to grant our leaders the capacity to address our issues. We pray Allah to grant us ease generally in this country and every other places across the globe. Certainly, every difficulty comes with ease. May Allah ease our affairs” Sirajudeen noted.
