Hon. (Princess) Benedicta Attoh, Chairman, Etsako East Local Government Council, has warned against indiscriminate waste dumping on waterways in order to avoid flooding, which can result in the loss of lives and the destruction of livelihoods and properties.

The council Chairman stated this when she visited the natural disaster in Otoukwe, Agenebode, to assess the extent of the damage and sympathise with the victims.

The chairman assured those affected that the Council would take immediate preliminary measures to prevent a recurrence by clearing the blocked drainages, and that she would draw the attention of the state government to provide a long-term solution as the council alone can’t handle the erosion challenges in the various communities.
