Fenerbahce defeated Swiss side Lugano in a thrilling UEFA Champions League second qualifying round first leg match last on Tuesday, at the Arena Thun Switzerland, marking a significant win for Jose Mourinho.

Edin Dzeko was instrumental in the victory, showcasing his talent as Fenerbahce emerged victorious with a 4-3 scoreline. The match, held at Lugano’s home ground, saw Ayman El Wafi give the hosts an early lead, but Dzeko responded with two goals, one just before halftime and another shortly after, putting Fenerbahce ahead.

Uran Bislimi equalized for Lugano, but Dzeko completed his hat-trick, followed by a goal from Ferdi Kadioglu, making it 4-2 with 17 minutes left. Despite a late goal from Milton Valenzuela in stoppage time, which added tension to the closing moments, Fenerbahce held on to their narrow advantage.
