… says office not vacant, commend Obaseki for siting tertiary institution in Akoko-Edo
… as Omobayo affirms his authenticity as Edo Deputy Governor
Edo State Deputy Governor, Engr. Marvellous Godwins Omobayo, has been commended for his exceptional leadership qualities and loyalty to Governor Godwin Obaseki.
A socio-political group, Special Men of Valour, also known as ‘Junction Boys’, made the commendation during a thank-you visit to the Office of the Deputy, for attracting the approval and siting of a tertiary institution in Akoko-Edo, by Governor Godwin Obaseki.
The group, led by Comrade Olufemi Frederick, was warmly received by the Deputy Governor, who appreciated members for their steadfastness and uncommon support for the Obaseki-led administration.
Addressing reporters shortly after the visit, leader, Special Men of Valour, Comrade Olufemi Frederick, said members of the group came to pay a thank you visit to the Deputy Governor for being a worthy ambassador of Akoko-Edo in the Obaseki-led administration.
According to him, the Deputy Governor has performed very well within the short period he assumed office and manifested exceptional leadership qualities in governance.
Speaking further, Olufemi Frederick dismissed the judgement of the Abuja Federal High Court which upturned the impeachment of Philip Shaibu, the former Deputy Governor.
He posited that the Office of the Deputy Governor was not vacant, while expressing solidarity with Omobayo, who he described as the ‘shining star of Edo youths in Nigerian politics’.
“Our group and good people of Edo State are solidly behind our Deputy Governor, Engr. Marvellous Godwins Omobayo. We appreciate Governor Godwin Obaseki for appointing him as Deputy Governor and we pledge our total support for the present administration in Edo State,” Frederick added.
Meanwhile, members of the Edo State Drivers Welfare Scheme on Wednesday, trooped out in their number, to express solidarity with the Deputy Governor of Edo State, Engr. Marvellous Godwins Omobayo, in his Office at Osadebey Avenue, Benin City.
The drivers, led by their State President, Comrade Lucky Aideyan Ukponmwan, while chanting solidarity songs, marched into the premises of the Deputy Governor, to affirm their loyalty and support for the State number two citizen.
Speaking with newsmen, Ukponmwan said they were in the office of the Deputy Governor to express their support for His Excellency and by extension, Governor Godwin Nogheghase Obaseki.
He described Omobayo as the sitting and authentic Deputy Governor of Edo State State, noting that there is no room for members of the opposition in the State.
Ukponmwan added that members of his group were solidly behind Governor Godwin Obaseki and his Deputy.
According to him, Edo people and members of Edo Drivers Welfare Scheme would have reasons to celebrate another round of victory, after the September 21 governorship election.
In his response, Omobayo said he was in the office performing his official duties, adding, “l remain the authentic Deputy Governor of Edo State.
In a related development, the Deputy Governor of Edo State, Engr. Marvellous Godwins Omobayo, also received Hon. Osaigbovo lyoha, Chief of Staff to Edo State Government and Hon. Victor Enoghama, Special Adviser to the Governor on Political Matters (Edo South), who were in his office on solidarity visit.
