The 2024 National Division 1 Handball League kicked off on Monday, July 15, in Benin City amid excitement and thrills as Aidia Academy, Osun, Desert Warriors and others got off to a winning start inside the multipurpose sports hall at the Samuel Ogbemudia Stadium.
The 2024 National Division 1 League Handball lived up to its hype as handball lovers and fans came out in large numbers to cheer up their teams whose beautiful skills entertained spectators.
In the day’s opening match in the male category, Bendel Dynamos lost 21 – 22 to COAS Shooters in a well-contested game.
In the other matches, Mindscope Academy triumphed 19 -15 over Osun. Aidia Academy
also triumphed 22-21 over Cherubim & Seraphim Academy.
Desert Warriors came out stronger than Omo-Ogiefo, smashing them 18 –
13 in the female category. Abia Valiant 20 we’re also superior to Police Machine by 20 against 17 points to win their opening match.
Funad also humbled Gboko Dream 14 against 12 points in the male category. Ekiti lost to Omo-Ogifo 21-22 in the female category just as Bayelsa surrendered to Osun 17-19.
Tuesday lined-up matches promise to be captivating as the 2024 Handball Division 1 League continues in Benin City, the Edo State capital.
All participating teams and officials arrived at the Samuel Ogbemudia Stadium on Sunday, July 14, for accreditation and clearance, which paved the way for the early Monday morning opener take-off.
