Only five Nigerians were included in ESPN’s list of the 25 greatest African athletes of the 21st century.
ESPN recently released this list, highlighting African athletes who have made significant contributions across various sports.
The recognized Nigerians include Super Falcons striker Asisat Oshoala, Super Falcons legend Perpetua Nkwocha, and Nigerian-Kiwi fighter Israel Adesanya.
The other two Nigerians on the list are Kamaru Usman, a prominent UFC lightweight division fighter, and New York Giants legend Osi Umenyiora, who achieved tremendous success in the NFL.
However, there was notable surprise over the exclusion of three other Nigerian sports legends: Austin Okocha, Nwankwo Kanu, and John Obi Mikel.
