The Super Eagles have been placed in Pot 1 ahead of the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations draw ceremony.

The Confederation of African Football (CAF) announced the draw procedure on its official website on Wednesday.

According to CAF, the highest-ranked nations based on the latest FIFA Rankings released on June 20, 2024, will be in Pot 1.

The Super Eagles are currently ranked as the fifth-best team on the continent.

Also in Pot 1 are hosts Morocco, Senegal, Algeria, Tunisia, Cote d’Ivoire, Egypt, Ghana, Mali, South Africa, Cameroon, and the Democratic Republic of Congo.

The completed draw of the qualifiers will consist of 12 groups of 4 teams (Group A to L). The top team and the runner-up in the eleven groups not involving tournament hosts Morocco will qualify for the competition.

The draw will take place in Johannesburg, South Africa on Thursday.

The AFCON 2025 finals are scheduled to be played between December 21, 2025, and January 18, 2026.
