The Rector of Auchi Polytechnic, Dr Salisu Shehu Umar, has commissioned some projects executed by students of the School of Engineering Technology that exemplify the creativity, ingenuity, and their dedication.
The Rector said some of the projects commissioned were solar-powered streetlights that now illuminate the campus, designed and constructed by students of the 2022/2023 and 2023/2024 academic sessions, showcasing their exceptional skills and commitment to innovation.
He said the installation of these streetlights not only enhances the aesthetics of the campus but also underscores the commitment to sustainability and energy efficiency. In addition to the solar-powered streetlights, “I am delighted to announce the commissioning of a series of other projects that further demonstrated the multidisciplinary talents of our students in the School of Engineering Technology. The landscaping efforts, including the planting of Bahama grasses, not only beautify our campus but also contribute to the preservation of our environment and the prevention of erosion,” he said.
Dr Umar also stated that the construction of drainages to control erosion, the installation of solar panels on the engineering building as well as the installation of a digital screen displaying all the departments in the School of Engineering serve as a testament to the collaborative spirit and creativity of the students.
“As we celebrate the successful completion of these projects, I would like to extend my heartfelt congratulations and gratitude to the Dean School of Engineering Technology, Engr. Fetus Izuagie, staff and students, who dedicated their time, efforts, and expertise to bring these initiatives to fruition”, he said.
Earlier in his address, the Dean School of Engineering Technology, Engr. Fetus Izuagie, thanked the the polytechnic management for providing enably environment for the students to showcase their talents as well as all the staff of the School Of Engineering Technology for the academic excellent, individual efforts to ensure that the projects came to reality.
Engr. Izuagie however assured the rector that the students of School Of Engineering Technology are talented and ready to compete with other higher institutions in the area of construction and fabrication.
