.. Eguavoen to manage team for AFCON 2025 qualifiers

Bruno Labbadia has reportedly ceased all communication with the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) and will no longer assume the role of head coach for the men’s senior national team.

Recall that the NFF had announced on Tuesday that the German coach would be leading the Super Eagles.

However, according to reports from Germany, the 58-year-old has now declined the opportunity to manage the three-time African champions.

It is reported that the NFF failed to finalize a contractual agreement with the former German international striker before making the announcement.

Labbadia was initially set to lead the Super Eagles in the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations qualifying matches against Benin Republic and Rwanda.

A 23-player squad had already been announced to participate in these fixtures prior to this recent development.

As a result, the technical Director of the NFF, Austin Eguavoen, may now step in to manage the team for both games.
