Chelsea’s first-team squad is making its way back to England following the conclusion of their pre-season tour in the United States.

The tour ended with a 2-1 defeat against Real Madrid, highlighting some initial challenges with Enzo Maresca’s new system.

Despite an underwhelming series of friendlies, several players have seized the chance to make an impression.

Notably, Enzo Maresca has praised Christopher Nkunku, who featured prominently throughout the tour and is expected to start against Manchester City in the Premier League opener.

Cole Palmer, who did not join the squad in the U.S. due to his extended involvement in the European Championships, has been preparing for the domestic season.

Palmer has been seen working out at Cobham and recently posted on Instagram, stating, “Back to it.”

Marc Cucurella has also recently returned to the club’s training ground.

Chelsea supporters are eager to see Palmer, a £45m acquisition from last season, replicate his impressive form from the previous year.

His role in the team remains uncertain, with potential for him to play either on the right wing or in a central position, possibly giving Noni Madueke an opportunity to shine based on his pre-season performances.
