Just as our people say that one day the child of a charcoal seller will wear white, so has the governorship aspiration of Derek Izedonmwen ushered a ray of hope for the downtrodden in Edo State.
The name of the gubernatorial candidate of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) in the forthcoming September 21 governorship election in Edo State, Engr. Osarenren Derek Izedonmwen, has become like a rising sun that has spread across the nooks and crannies of Edo State, that whenever and wherever it is mentioned, it resonates hope.
The ADC candidate’s policy thrust for Edo State rests on his RAIISE agenda – Rural Revitalisation, Agriculture, Industrialisation, Infrastructure, Security and Excellence. He has pledged to implement this agenda religiously and impact positively on the lives of Edo people.
Furthermore, Derek Izedonmwen’s agenda also includes an effective, efficient, and productive workforce or bureaucracy that would enhance well-educated, healthy, and trained citizenry. He will also focus on key areas like education and affordable healthcare that will improve Edo State’s Human Capacity Development (HCD) indices.
Izedonmwen’s slogan that reads “READY TO SERVE” is a self-explanatory slogan. It means: “I am here, send me.” In other words, the ADC candidate is assuring Edo people of his readiness to be the people’s servant-leader who will serve the people’s interest, not one cast in the mould of masters who lord it over the people who elected them.
His slogan “READY TO SERVE” has messages such as: “I am here to change a broken system”, “I stand on the shoulders of great giants”, “Our state belongs to us all”, etc. By “READY TO SERVE”, Derek Izedonmwen says he is prepared with workable plans, unlike accidental leaders foisted on the people by selfish interests, and who can’t hit the ground running due to poor preparation.
Izedonmwen says he entered the race to become Edo State governor solely for the interest of Edo people, so that the children of the common man can have hope and have a sense of belonging that one day he or she can also become somebody even without knowing anybody.
His call is for Edo people to disregard the big parties whose main agenda, according to him, is to serve the interest of the few elite at the detriment of the higher majority of the populace. He has urged the Edo electorate to support and vote ADC, promising that doing so will ensure that prosperity and good governance will be felt by everyone in Edo State.
