Edo Innovates, the technology innovation hub backed by the Edo State Government, is offering specialized training in robotics, data analysis, and scratch programming to teenagers and school pupils in Edo State.
This initiative aligns with the government’s ongoing efforts to cultivate a new generation of tech talent within the state.
Since its inception in 2018, Edo Innovates has trained over 50,000 youths in various technology disciplines, creating a robust pool of tech experts poised to lead the state’s technological future.
The current training program, tailored specifically for school children and teenagers during the holidays, aims to introduce young minds to the world of technology innovation. The program covers fundamental aspects of coding and programming, offering participants a solid foundation in these critical skills.
Speaking with journalists, the Executive Director of Edo Innovates, Asemota Izoduwa, described the initiative as a “catch them young” strategy. The goal is to build a pipeline of talent not only for Edo Innovates but also for other innovation hubs across Nigeria. The training program began on August 12 and will run for three weeks.
Izoduwa emphasized, “We are committed to creating a lasting legacy by nurturing young individuals who will pursue careers in technology innovation. While we have been training youths since 2018, our vision is to continue this work for the next 30 years. Through these coding and programming sessions, we are ensuring that young people have the skills to further their tech journey. Their enthusiasm and eagerness to learn inspire us.”
Jobina Arinze, the Training Lead at Edo Innovates, expressed excitement about the training program and the opportunity to engage with a new generation of learners. He added, “This initiative opens up new opportunities for us to connect with young people and introduce them to various aspects of innovative technology, especially in data science, coding, and scratch programming.”
This program reflects Edo Innovates’ commitment to empowering the next generation with the tools and knowledge they need to succeed in the rapidly evolving tech landscape.
