… as SA Media Projects receives APC defectors in Oredo Ward 1
The support base of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) governorship candidate for the September 21 election in Edo State, Dr. Asue Ighodalo was further strengthened on Saturday as 111 former members of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Oredo Ward 1 defected to the PDP.
Suffice it to mention that over 200 members of the APC in the Oredo Ward 1 have concluded plans to dump the APC for the Asue Ighodalo and Osarodion Ogie quest.
Speaking on behalf of members of his reformation organisation at the reception ceremony, Pastor Sidney O. Egede, who led the former APC members to the PDP, said that they decided to abandon the APC following the untold hunger and economic hardship brought by President Ahmed Bola Tinubu APC led Federal Government administration.
Egede, former APC Secretary and Leader in Oredo Ward 1 stated that APC is not an option in the forthcoming governorship election in Edo State, and urged Edo residents to vote massively for the PDP candidate, Asue Ighodalo, who according to him will bring all-round development to the people as governor.
“APC is not an option in the forthcoming governorship election in Edo State, because since May last year, when the President came into power, he has brought extreme poverty to the people that we have never experienced in Nigeria before.
“I have told many people in Oredo Ward 1 that they should join the PDP. This is because PDP has never inflicted this suffering on our people.
“We cannot continue to play politics with our lives. We need to come together and stand for the candidature of Dr. Asue Ighodalo and Barr. Osarodion Ogie in this coming election in Edo,” Egede said.
He further expressed that his decision to dump the APC was informed by the choice of the party’s gubernatorial candidate, noting that more qualified aspirants with sellable qualities were jettisoned for what he described as the ‘most mediocre’.
“I am even angry that the party brought out somebody like that in the midst of Pastor Osagie Ize-Iyamu, Dr. David Imuse and Dr. Ernest Afolabi Umakhihe. They could have brought out one of these persons for the election.
“But for them to have gone so low to bring the most mediocre of them all, it is sad. APC has lost the election already and their choice of candidate will make them lose the election,” Egede added.
While receiving the APC defectors to PDP on behalf of the Governor of Edo State, His Excellency, Governor Godwin Obaseki and Edo State PDP Chairman, Dr. Tony Aziegbemi, the Edo State Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice, and the Leader of Oredo Ward 1, Oluwole Osaze-Uzzi, SAN, appreciated the defectors for joining PDP.
Earlier, the convener of the event and the Special Adviser on Media Projects to the Edo State Governor, Hon. (Pastor) Crusoe Osagie, while commending the former APC leader for leading his people to the PDP, and appreciating the Enogie of Idunwun-Ogiekae Community, His Royal Highness, Enogie Ewemade Uhiwengbaifo Ogiekae for his support, stressed that with Egede, PDP will record resounding victory in Oredo Ward 1 during the September 21 election.
Hon. Crusoe Osagie, a distinguished leader of PDP in Oredo Ward 1 and the sole sponsor of Garrison Political Force, Overflow Movement, and Good Force Organisation for Asue Ighodalo and Osarodion Ogie, described Egede as an intimidating asset to the PDP.
“In this coming election, we are not going to have any formidable opposition because the only person who we used to contend against in elections is Sidney Egede.
“It is going to be a one-way election for the PDP in this coming September 21 gubernatorial election in Edo State”, Crusoe assured.
On his part, the Leader of Good Force Canvessers, Hon. Edafe Osagie stressed the importance of good governance in Edo State.
According to Hon. Edafe, “We need good governance that is why I started the grassroots mobilization force which is solely sponsored by the Special Adviser Media Projects to Edo State Governor, Hon. Crusoe Osagie.
“Crusoe Osagie has been supporting the parent organization, Good Force Canvessers, which in turn has given birth to several political organisations like Overflow Movement, Okhoro Chapter, Garrison Political Force and Faithful Voters, Edo State Chapter, all working together to succeed and enthrone Asue Ighodalo and Osarodion Ogie as the next Governor and Deputy Governor of Edo State.”
