A media content group, Professional Media Content Producers Association of Nigeria (PMCPAN), Cross River State chapter, has urged the Cross River State government to formulate policies that would benefit their members.
The Association’s president, Mr. Innocent Patrick, gave the charge while speaking at the World Photography Day celebration, which took place in Càlabar.
“I want to use this opportunity to appeal to the state government to come up with programmes that would subsidize equipment in a manner that an ordinary content creator can break even in the trade,” he said.
He charged members of the association to create content that will help in the promotion of the nation’s unity rather than creating content that downgrades those in places of authority, saying, “Let’s try and come up with contents that will foster peace, unity and oneness to make our country as one indivisible entity rather than creating content that is filled with divisive tendencies”.
Earlier, the state commissioner for Information, Dr Erasmus Ekpang, stated that the government was ready to partner the content creators for the betterment of the society, and urged the association members to focus their attention on content that adds value to the society rather than the one that tears society apart.
In her remarks, the chairman, Cross River State Council of Nigeria Union of Journalists, Comrade Archibong Bassey, assured the association of the Union’s partnership so long as they are ready to be creating content that would not incite chaos in the society but content that leads to societal development.
