BENUE – A young man,Okoro Odianosen Samuel has fled for his life following harassment and attempts on his life by suspected Fulani Headsmen.
A family source who spoke to our reporter on condition of anonymity, said that Samuel had an uttercation with some Fulani Headsmen two days ago, when their cows were grazing on Samuel family farmland.
The source said that he told them to move their cattles elsewhere as the animals have eaten and destroyed their farm produce. The herders took offence and gave him the beating of his life. He barely escape the onslaught.
This is not the first time the herders have terrorized his community, Yelwata in Guma Local Government Area of Benue State. The recent been two months ago, when armed bandits, suspected to be Fulani Headsmen, invaded the community, destroyed large hectares of farmland, killed thirteen persons, including Samuel’s parents and abducted several persons including women and children.
The attack infuriated the villagers, especially the youths who organized themselves and combed the forest and the environs. In the reprisal attack, several of the headers were killed.
It was gathered that the headers annoyed at the killing of their people, fingered Samuel and other youths of the community. That was while they went to his farm to destroy it and kill him.
Since the failed attack on him, he has been subjected to threats, harassment and several attempts have been made on his life by the herder, who are angry that he dares them and even reported them to the community head.
The threats and harassment made him flee as the herder have vowed to kill him and his family members
