An urgent appeal has been made for the safety of Miss Emmanuel Joy Ogbonne who is still in police custody and this situation is posing a mystery to her family and colleagues alike in the recent agitations of various groups and organizations who protested against the growing economic hardship and hunger, in Nigeria, which has been described as the “worst economic crisis in a generation”, due to record inflation, especially on food prices particularly the removal of fuel subsidies.
A Human Right Activist, Mr. Okwudili Ogbonanya who is at the Frontline for the search for Miss Emmanuel Joy Ogbonne spoke at length to our correspondence in The NIGERIA OBSERVER revealed that trouble started for Miss Emmanuel Joy Ogbonne who is a strong Convener of the EndBadGovernance protest she was said to be amongst the protesters in Abuja on August 1st investigations has revealed that over one thousand protesters were arrested in the agitations alon in the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja.
Which turned violent after the Nigeria Police Force shot tear gas and live bullets at protesters in an attempt to disperse them. The human right activist who has close ties with Miss Emmanuel Joy Ogbonne had severally called her phone Number but there was no response. Until a signal was raised from the AIG in Benin that it was discovered that Emmanuel Joy Ogbonne was amongst those detained in the protest in Abuja. Her condition was not fine at all because of the dehumanizing treatment melted to her Mr. Okwudili Ogbonanya was allowed to see her briefly in Abuja, and While trying to perfect her bail conditions, it was rejected tactically because no cogent reason was given for the delay in getting her bail granted, Mr. Okwudili Ogbonanya insinuated that it is most likely. Due to interference from the powers that be in an attempt to hijack the protest, This scenario, is alarming, considering the health conditions he found Miss Emmanuel Joy Ogbonne while she was detained in Abuja.
As at the time of filling this report, she is still incarcerated in Abuja. Which is alarming, considering the fact that most of the End bad governance protesters are malnourished and tortured.
