How do you achieve a harmonious and peaceful House?

As the Speaker of the Edo State Youth Parliament, achieving a harmonious and peaceful House is grounded in a commitment to fairness, transparency, and inclusivity. I emphasize respectful dialogue, ensuring all members can voice their opinions openly. Consensus-building is a priority, where both majority and minority views are considered, fostering shared ownership of decisions. We operate under clear rules and procedures as enshrined in the Constitution and Standing Orders of the parliament; this helps to prevent misunderstandings and ensure everyone knows their responsibilities and boundaries. When conflicts arise, they will be addressed promptly and impartially, with a focus on mediation and dialogue to maintain unity. Promoting a team spirit and encouraging collaboration over competition is key, as it builds mutual respect and shared goals. Continuous engagement with members outside formal sessions also strengthens relationships and trust, which are crucial for maintaining harmony within the Parliament. By implementing these approaches, we create an environment where productive discourse thrives and the collective interests of the Edo State Youth are effectively represented.
