Numerous Nigerian football fans have flooded the social media accounts of new Super Eagles head coach Bruno Labbadia, urging him to secure World Cup qualification.
The appointment of the German, chosen over several notable candidates, has been a major topic of discussion in Nigerian football since Monday when the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) announced him as the long-awaited replacement for Finidi George, who stepped down in June following the NFF’s decision to hire a foreign coach.
The Super Eagles are currently in their most precarious position in the last 20 years, having recently suffered a disappointing loss to Benin Republic in Ivory Coast. This has left Labbadia with the challenging task of ensuring the team qualifies for the next World Cup.
Frustrated by the NFF’s sluggish approach to appointing a coach, especially with the 2025 AFCON qualifiers looming, Nigerian fans have made it clear that no excuses will be acceptable if the country fails to secure a spot at the World Cup.
