The Coordinator General of the Obidient Movement for Senator Monday Okpebholo, Engr. (Comr) Peter Igbinigie Omo-Idahosa, has said that he and his team are working as a pressure group for the realization of the governorship ambition of the candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the 21st September 2024 governorship election in the state, Senator Monday Okpebholo.
Omo-Idahosa stated this when he spoke to journalists recently at the Sokponba Road, Benin City office donated to the Obidient Movement for Monday Okpebholo Campaign Organization by Rt. Hon. Ogbeide-Ihama.
He said he stepped aside from the Labour Party due to lack of transparency, adding that he is back to where he will prove his leadership quality and contribute to the growth of the movement.
“However, I am moving to any party of my choice. I am watching with keen interest so as not to be disappointed. As the popular saying goes, ‘Look before you leap’. For now, I and my team are working as a pressure group for the realization of Okpebholo’s governorship ambition. We believe in attitude and character, not party.
“I will take my decision on the political party I want to fully belong to after the governorship election come September 21, 2024,” he said.
Reiterating that he and his team are working tirelessly to make sure Okpebholo realizes his ambition of becoming the governor of Edo State, Omo-Idahosa said, “As a leader, we members of Obidient Movement Organization, we don’t work for party, but for good character of those who must lead us, and out of the three major candidates from the various parties that are vying for the governorship position in the state, we have figured out that Senator Monday Okpebholo stands tall and meets up to our criteria.”
Elaborating on the criteria, he spoke of humility, credibility, empathy, philanthropy, and vision.
“Where there is no vision, the people perish (Proverbs 29:13). This scripture highlights the importance of having a clear vision, which Senator Monday Okpebholo embodies. He stands out as a visionary candidate with a clear vision for the future of Edo State and her people. Above all, he is a God-fearing citizen of Edo State and by extension of the Federal Republic of Nigeria,” he said.
Omo-Idahosa described Okpebholo as a grassroots politician who is closer to the people and knows the problem of the people.
“He is not boastful, he is action-oriented and that is one of the good qualities of a great leader. Furthermore, the Obidient Movement Group has no reservation in supporting him with the good people of Edo State as the next governor to occupy the seat at Osadebe Avenue, Government House, Benin City,” he said.
Omo-Idahosa, who retired from the NNPC as a foremost engineer, noted that the former governors in Edo State have done well but that the governorship of Senator Okpebholo would do better and would be a blessing to the good people of Edo State.
