Team Nigeria’s captain, Anuoluwapo Opeyori has been eliminated from the men’s singles badminton event at the Paris 2024 Olympics.

Opeyori, aiming to make a significant impact in the competition, faced a tough challenge in his second match on Wednesday against China Feng Shi Li losing 21- 17, 21-17 at the La Chapelle Arena court 2.

Despite a valiant effort, he was unable to overcome Li, bowing out of the tournament.

His elimination was however accompanied by loud applause and cheers from spectators who were visibly impressed by his performance.

This was Opeyori’s second loss in the competition after suffering a disappointing 22-20, 21-14 loss on Tuesday to Switzerland’s Tobias Kuenzi.

The Nigerian shuttler will now focus on recovering and preparing for future competitions.
