‘Mr P’ otherwise known as Peter Okoye wrote his twin brother, Paul ‘Rudeboy’ an open letter expressing his disappointment over Paul’s constant grant of interviews to discredit his efforts in the group they both worked hard to create.
The Okoye twins founded ‘P-Square‘ in 2001, and they won a talent show subsequently which boosted their status, assisting them to sign a record deal with Timbuk2 Label through which they released their debut album in 2003.
P-Square’s Peter and Paul Okoye had a dispute in March 2016, and parted ways. Paul adopted a stage name Mr. P while Peter chose Rudeboy.
According to Peter in 2016, Paul is no longer willing to co-operate with him. Peter said the whole drama began after Paul began posting the lyrics of most of their songs on Instagram and saying he was the writer, even going as far as cancelling their planned U.S. tour without informing him, and he (Peter) has exhausted all options to make it work .
The duo of P-Square reunited in 2021 releasing a public statement that they were actively trying to restore their relationship and potentially collaborate in the future.
Shockingly for their fans, the pair split up again in an open letter on X on Monday.
Peter listed several songs he has written, including “Ejeajo,” “Get-Squared,” “Bizzy Body,” and “Personally,” which Paul had failed to acknowledge.
He accused Paul of always using “I” and “me” in all his interviews despite him standing beside him. It is as if I never existed Peter wrote .
“Rather than joining forces with me to reclaim our number 1 spot in the music industry, you chose to team up with Jude to claim the number 1 spot in the P-SQUARE group, always looking for opportunities to marginalize and humiliate me.
“You are always claiming to be P-SQUARE’s songwriter, composer, producer, singer, backup vocalist, in fact you are everything including P-SQUARE’s video director, band, promoter, manager, even the choreographer. You are the Author and Finisher of P-SQUARE! In fact, I dash you 100% of everything instead of the 99% you claim.
“I blame myself for not responding to your tweet claims in April 2015 that you wrote and sang all of P-SQUARE’s songs. I didn’t respond to these false claims for the sake of peace, as advised by family and friends, and now I am paying dearly for it.
You have been doing everything for the fans to hate me, but guess what? They will never hate me; instead, they will hate us both because we have disappointed and failed them.
“I hope you are happy now. I genuinely wish you nothing but the best, bro! As for those who believe these lies and false narratives and come to my page to drop negative comments, I understand because you have been fed the wrong narrative for a long time. Please allow me to focus and do my music in peace.
He further shared that he will address the EFCC issue before the end of the day.
