About 40 years after he was declared missing, the family of Pa Lucky Asowata has conducted a burial ceremony for their father in accordance with the Benin custom.
The burial ceremony took place at his residence, 7 Ebuma Street, off Ogiefo Street, off Jesus Christ Road, Upper Sokponba Road, Benin City, Edo State, on Sunday, 11th August 2024. He was buried without his physical remains.

He said the information he was given by the family was that his father was kidnapped in Benin City, his vehicle was recovered but he was not found. All efforts to find him yielded no result.
Before he went missing, Pa Lucky Asowata was married and the marriage was blessed with two daughters and a son, Harrison, who was born shortly after.
In an emotional tribute, Pa Lucky Asowata’s children said, “Your children and family members will continue to remember you always until we meet on the resurrection morning. Continue to rest in peace, our beloved daddy. Fondly remembered by your children and family members, including your friends both home and away.”
