Wives of police officers in Akwa Ibom State have promised to support their husbands to make Akwa Ibom State one of the safest states in Nigeria.

The Chairperson of Police Officers Wives Association (POWA), Akwa Ibom State Chapter and Wife of the Commissioner of Police, Akwa Ibom State Police Command, Mrs Ronke Ayilara, gave this reassurance during the 60th Anniversary celebration of POWA.

Before leading the Association’s members on a courtesy visit with the Commissioner of Police and his management team, Mrs. Ayilara examined the Police Officers Wives Association’s (POWA) Guard of Honor march. She expressed her gratitude to the men and officers of the Akwa Ibom State Police Command for their proactive efforts in fighting crime in the state and for their professionalism in carrying out their constitutional duties.

The POWA Chairperson acknowledged that being the wife of a police officer is a huge task because of their husbands’ hectic schedules, but she also said that POWA members are determined to support their husbands and that it is their only responsibility to ensure their spouses’ happiness and peace of mind at home so that they can effectively carry out their duties.

In his response, the Commissioner of Police, Akwa Ibom State Police Command, CP Waheed Ayilara, commended POWA Akwa Ibom Chapter for sustaining the legacy and tenacity of the Association and appreciated them for the role they play in the lives of their Spouses. The CP also encouraged them to do more as their daily support, love, and motivation have helped the officers to perform well in their services.

The gifting of mementos to the CP and members of his management team marked the pinnacle of the POWA 60th anniversary celebration.
