The Managing Direction of the Edo Public Buildings and Maintainance Agency, Engr Austin Osakue, has charged civil servants and members of the public on the need to protect the state’s public building assets at the secretariat complex.
Addressing members of staff and journalists at the agency’s weekly coordination meeting in his office recently, the Managing Director gave the charge against the backdrop of reported cases of frquent breakdown of elevators at Edo State Secretariat Secretariat Buildings.
He said his agency will continue to educate the staff and members of the public who make use of the facility on the functionality of the facility to avoid abuse, stating that the durability of any elevator can only be guaranteed if the number, weight and size of the people who enter it are minimized to prevent congestion and the complete breakdown of the elevators.
Engr. Osakue noted that Governor Obaseki has invested so much in public buildings in the state for public servants and that it would be unfair to see his transformation efforts go to waste in no time when the facilities are not protected.
He charged the people to be conscious of the effective use of the elevators by adhering to the notices at the entrance to serve as guides to them, saying the agency will continue to engage in regular inspection and maintenance of government’s assets to ensure their effectiveness.
