…insists no collection by proxy
Benin City – The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) in Edo State has announced the schedule for the distribution of Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs) ahead of upcoming governorship election in the state.
In a press statement signed by Timidi Wariowei, the state Head of Voter Education and Publicity, INEC said the exercise will commence on Thursday, August 22, 2024, and will span five days, concluding on Monday, August 26, 2024.
According to the statement, eligible voters who have registered or made transfers are required to visit their respective ward headquarters to collect their PVCs.
The statement added that after the ward-level distribution, the exercise will shift to INEC Local Government Area (LGA) offices for an additional three days, from Wednesday, August 28, to Friday, August 30, 2024.
Timidi emphasized that there will be no collection of PVCs by proxy, adding that voters must present themselves in person at the designated locations to obtain their cards.
He urged all eligible voters to take advantage of the collection window to ensure they are prepared to participate in the forthcoming elections.
