Edo state weightlifting Association is organizing a 3-day open weightlifting championship in Benin City, the Edo State capital, with weight lifters from all the states of the South-South geopolitical zone of the country featuring.
The weightlifting championship, titled: ‘Prof. Mike Ozekhome (SAN) South-South Open Weightlifting Championship’ is scheduled to hold from Wednesday 21 to Saturday 24 of August, 2024 inside the multipurpose Sports Hall of Samuel Ogbemudia Stadium, Benin city.
The championship will feature the South -South states with the following weight categories for the snatch lift, clear and Jerk lift for both male and female respectively.
In the male category, lifters will feature in 67kg, 73kg, 81kg, 89kg, 96kg,102kg, and 109kg, while the female categories have 59kg, 64kg, 76kg, 81kg, 87kg, +87kg.
Meanwhile, the hosts, Edo weightlifters will fully be on ground to Showcase their skills.
