Yves Bissouma will be sidelined at the start of the new season after Tottenham suspended him over a controversial video.

The midfielder recently posted a video on social media showing himself inhaling nitrous oxide, a Class C drug commonly referred to as ‘hippy crack.’

In the footage, Bissouma is seen laughing while using the drug, just hours after Spurs’ final pre-season match, which ended in a 3-2 defeat to Bayern Munich in the Visit Malta Cup.

“I deeply regret sharing these videos and acknowledge the poor judgment displayed,” Bissouma stated. “I am aware of the serious health risks and am committed to taking responsibility as both a footballer and a role model.”

Having joined Tottenham from Brighton for £30 million in 2022, Bissouma featured for 45 minutes in the friendly against Bayern Munich. Tottenham commented, “We are addressing the situation internally and will handle it accordingly.”

The Premier League season kicks off for Spurs with a match against newly-promoted Leicester City on August 19.
