The University of Benin Governing Council has appreciated Omo N’ Oba N’ Edo, Uku Akpolokpolo, Ewuare II, CFR, Oba of Benin, for his outstanding impact and legacy for taking Nigeria peace and unity profoundly seriously.

The Chairman/Pro-Chancellor of the University Governing Council, Professor Shaibu Umar, who made the remarks during a courtesy visit to Oba Palace, stated that the visit was met to identify with the Benin Royal Palace.

Addressing the Benin Royal throne, the leader of the delegation stated that Oba Ewuare’s leadership role is not noticed in Edo State, but in Nigeria and sued for sustainability.

Prof. Umar, who after addressing some house-keeping issues about the University that transformed anticipation into excellence, solicited for royal blessings and support to enable the Council discharge its responsibilities efficiently.

He said, “The strides and developmental efforts put in place by the Palace to ensure peaceful coexistence, not only in Benin City, but for the entire Nigeria. Anyone who can govern the affairs of the Benin Kingdom is capable of governing Nigeria.

“What your Royal Majesty is doing to have peace, stability and proper leadership to the good people of Benin is not only seen by the Benin people in Edo State, but it’s seen all over the country. We request your Royal Majesty to continue”, he said.

Responding, Omo N’ Oba N’ Edo, Uku Akpolokpolo, Oba Ewuare II, CFR, Oba of Benin, noted that he is not oblivious of the task ahead of the University of Benin Governing Council as the Chancellor of the National Open University of Nigeria (NOUN).

In a press statement yesterday in Benin City, Osaigbovo Iguobaro, Chief Press Secretary to the Oba of Benin, the first-class traditional ruler also pledged his support to the Federal Government own-institution.

Highpoint of the visit was a group photograph by the delegation accompanied by the Vice Chancellor of the University, Prof. Lilian Salami and principal officers of the school with Oba Ewuare II as a mark of goodwill by the Benin monarch.
