Right-back Aaron Wan-Bissaka has spent five years with Manchester United, but the former Crystal Palace star is now returning to London after signing a seven-year contract with West Ham in a deal reportedly worth around £15 million.
New West Ham manager Julen Lopetegui had previously attempted to bring Wan-Bissaka to Wolves last summer while he was still in charge there, but the move did not materialize.
Wan-Bissaka becomes the eighth new signing at the London Stadium this summer, as Lopetegui receives strong backing in his first transfer window at the club after taking over from David Moyes.
Joining Wan-Bissaka at West Ham this summer are Niclas Fullkrug, Crysencio Summerville, Jean-Clair Todibo, Max Kilman, Luis Guilherme, Guido Rodriguez, and Wes Foderingham.
Meanwhile, at Old Trafford, Manchester United are planning to replace the 26-year-old with Moroccan full-back Noussair Mazraoui.
Wan-Bissaka made 190 appearances for Manchester United, winning both the FA Cup and EFL Cup during his five-season stint in Manchester, but now returns to his home city of London.
“It was a no brainer for me to join West Ham – I’m excited and happy to be here,” said the defender, who will wear the No.29 shirt for the Hammers.
“It’s an amazing feeling to be back in London, and I’m excited for what’s coming. I was born here, so I know the ins and outs of London, which plays a big part in my life, so to be back playing in this city means a lot to me.
“I’m happy to be here, am grateful for the warm welcome, and I am excited to be playing for the Club and will give it my all.
“I can’t wait to get on the pitch, get to know the players, and push on from there. I see a team that is in it together, that will push each other to win, and a group that has got each others’ backs through thick and thin, so being part of that and having that insurance helps a lot when you are surrounded by a good squad,” he added.
