… Alli constitutes organising committees
The Edo State Sports Commission has commenced preparation for the organisation of the 4th Edition of the Betsy Obaseki Women Football Tournament (BOWFT), as the Executive Chairman of the Commission, Olympian Yussuf Alli has constituted eight planning committees with a charge to organise a memorable tournament in Benin City.
The Edo Sports Commission boss disclosed that the women’s football tournament is scheduled to kick off on October 2, 2024, with fourteen teams featuring.
He added that two clubs from neighbouring Republic of Niger will be participating in the 4th edition of the football tourney.
The eight subcommittees for the Betsy Obaseki Women Football Tournament include the Ceremonial / Protocol Subcommittee which has Dr. Kwueku Tandoh as Chairman with Anne Obiandu and Margaret Ojo, as members; Media & Communications -with Mr Crusoe Osagie as Chairman just as Dr. Alabi Richard is appointed Chairman, Medical Subcommittee, with Dr. Okoeguale as member.
Dr. Ivbinosa Emmanuel, the Permanent Secretary, Edo State Sports Commission heads the Technical Subcommittee with Ms. Faith Irabor, Gabriel Okon and Mr. Bisi Otupate, Edo FA Secretary as members.
Comrade Rabi, is Chairman of the Accommodation Subcommittee with Mr. Stephen Bulongo and Christy Onyonyor as members, while Mr. Okonkwo Peter is Head of the Secretariat and Transportation Subcommittee
Security Subcommittee has CSP Williams Waba as Chairman, with Mr.Yusuf-Osagie, Mr. Omomia, and Mr. Solomon Aliyu as members. While Nicholas Okunfo is in charge of the Stadium & Facility.
Inaugurating the subcommittees, the Edo State Sports Commission boss disclosed that the BOWFT has been scheduled to kick off on October 2 and end on October 13, 2024.
“We have carefully selected all of you to serve in the various committees because we have confidence in your ability to deliver. We want to keep improving on our past editions. This year, we are expanding the number of participating teams from twelve to fourteen,” Alli said.
“We are making it bigger and we are going international as we have two foreign clubs from neighbouring Niger Republic gearing up to participate.
“We are ready, our sponsors are also ready,” he assured.
