… as coach Esezobor hails govt’s commitment

Young athletes in Team Edo State camp are in high spirits and have diligently honed their skills at their various training camps to prepare for the highly anticipated National Youth Games scheduled in Asaba, Delta State between September 9 and 14.

The camp has been bubbling with enthusiasm as athletes from 31 different sports are showcasing their exceptional skills with a show of dedication and passion during their intense training sessions as they expressed their readiness for the youth games.

Speaking with journalists, Joachin Lucky Esezobor, the head coach of Judo team, has expressed confidence in the team’s readiness, adding that all that is needed for their preparations has been provided by the state government.

Coach Esezobor while acknowledging the crucial support from the State Government and the Executive Chairman of the Edo State Sports Commission, Olympian Yussuf Alli, and his dedicated team towards the preparation of team Edo for the Asaba Games, said that they are well-motivated and ready for the games

The Judo team captain, Emmanuel Abel while also speaking on their readiness said that the determination and commitment of Edo Judo team will lead to bringing honour to the state.

In the Cricket camp, the female cricket team captain Glory Idiahi is convinced that they are fully prepared for the 2024 National Youth Games in Asaba, following the comprehensive training provided by their coaches. She expressed the optimism that when they give their all, then a Gold medal is sure for the state. Similarly, the male captain, Hosanna Omokhobhio, has also expressed strong belief in the team’s potential to win the gold medal, emphasizing that the team is in high spirits.

Coach Marvelous Oyivwi, the Under-15 male coach, is also confident that the team is fully prepared for the games and expresses gratitude for the support provided by the State Government to the team and the coaches. The female cricket coach, Osamudiamen Ikpomwen also affirmed that the athletes are fully geared up for the games and are confident in their ability to bring home a medal for the state.

It is abundantly clear that Team Edo is exceptionally well-prepared to lead the way and demonstrate their skills at the upcoming National Youth Games in Asaba 2024.
