Governor Obaseki is like no other, working on multiple projects with speed even at the twilight of his tenure. Go to Ekenwan Road, go to GRA, go to so many areas in many LGAs. He is working today as if he is approaching his first 100 days, yet he hands over in two months!

Those who don’t want to see all the good things Governor Obaseki has done may well be living in an alternative universe! How do you live in a street that was impassable and in darkness but now restored to light and a pleasurable drive-through thoroughfare and yet you choose to stay in the dark and neither see nor acknowledge the huge progress made.

You are following the narrative of those who lost their fraudulent government feeding bottles. Spreading falsehood like those who don’t visit home and yet claim nothing has been done in Edo because a barely logical and coherent Tenebe, Agbobayimma and a lost-out godfather aspirant say so.

It is disheartening that people just tell lies for politics sake. You don’t have to lie. Obaseki is now a politician, although of a different hue. He doesn’t tell lies. He doesn’t have the time to engage in that non-value-adding pastime that ‘Lie’ Mohamed made famous! Did he respond to Oshiomhole’s sacrilegious back stab that all good-thinking, culturally-sensitive and ethically-sound folks roundly condemned? He just left the talkative to wallow in his self-inflicted opprobrium. His loud silence in the face of such unnecessary aggravation by an over-aged PA to a candidate is the mark of impeccable and effective upbringing. And it makes the other’s ‘downbringing’ stark and visible for all to see. Self-demystification at its worst!

Consider Asue’s choice as candidate and his support by the incumbent. Dr. Barrister Asue Ighodalo should be running for President, qualifications, character and track record considered! Obaseki has no godfather but only God the Father who one garrulous interloper mocked the other day. They go to AriseTV to lie against Edo people and their state. Shameful lies that fly in the face of reality. How can a man face television cameras and claim, shamelessly, that Edo people do not have TVs, cannot buy DSTV and GoTV and cannot even pay internet subscription, etc. Haba, Oga Tenebe the Terrible! We begin to think you also lied when you claimed that Shaibu and his boys stole your Daytona wristwatch! You need to apologise to Shaibu publicly or confess to your pastor and Nigerians that you are fraternizing with wristwatch thieves. It is one or the other sir!

How do you blame Obaseki for a few flooded roads whose flood drains off immediately after rains when even in America, Dubai, and Britain, they all have flooding problems now. Obaseki caused those too? What of the flooding in China’s Hwuang Ho plains and the massive landslides that accompany them? Have these people ever heard of climate change despite going on shopping jamborees in the name of Climate Change Conferences abroad and collecting humongous estacodes?

Blame Obaseki too for the floods that happened in Bauchi, Kaduna and Kogi. Next time when rain falls massively, do not tell your candidate to merely stand shoeless inside in oversized catfan, tell him to take a swim in the putrid flood waters and video it to blame Obaseki. Please get lifeguards around because he can’t swim, unlike Asue, and we don’t want our distinguished brother to drown in murky waters. He has a coming election to lose and we need to write that history first.

Then compare an astute Asue with the bumbling placeholder, awaiting impeachment, that the other roots for towards certain unholy objective! I will hate to believe that there are Edo people that will choose the worst and leave the very best because of their gripe against a man who is NOT running. That is, to put it mildly, unwise. Foolish would be a rather harsh word and I will not use it. Because our people are wise and smart and courageous and innovative. Like Tony Enahoro, John Momoh, Pa Imoudu and Rema. “No one is blinder than he who just won’t see,” so sang Kenny Rogers.

Edos, shine your eyes. Chop their money, then vote your conscience. For your own sake and the sake of your children’s future. Those educated folks claiming that speaking good English (their euphemism for western education) does not matter are hereby invited to withdraw their kids from the expensive private schools they are in forthwith and keep them at home to join political parties and become governors. Is this dogma not what underpinned Boko Haram?

I pray our children become replicas of the candidate we individually choose in the Edo governorship election of 21 September 2024. And the people say: Amen.

Postscript:

To those of you who say I write this way because I have been paid, please say that loud enough till the governor hears the falsehood. That way, he might be motivated to really pay me. And I will thank you for it!
