The Aig-Imoukhuede Foundation, in collaboration with the Private Sector Health Alliance of Nigeria (PSHAN) and the Edo State Primary Healthcare Development Agency (EdoSPHCDA), is set to inaugurate four newly renovated Primary Healthcare Centres (PHCs) in Edo State.
The centres, located in Owan West, Ikpoba Okha, Oredo, and Uhunmwode local government areas, will officially open with a ribbon-cutting ceremony to hold soon.
This event marks the first phase of the Foundation’s Adopt-A-Healthcare-Facility Programme (ADHFP), a multibillion-naira initiative aimed at renovating 23 PHCs across Nigeria.
The ADHFP, launched by PSHAN, seeks to enhance access to equitable and high-quality healthcare services across all 774 local government areas in Nigeria.
The Aig-Imoukhuede Foundation’s commitment, announced in November 2021, includes the renovation of 23 PHCs, with 18 located in Edo State.
The newly upgraded centres will feature modern facilities and essential medical supplies aimed at improving patient care and strengthening Nigeria’s healthcare infrastructure.
Mrs. Ofovwe Aig-Imoukhuede, co-founder and executive vice chair of the Aig-Imoukhuede Foundation, emphasized the initiative’s significance: “The revitalization of these PHCs is a critical step towards achieving a more equitable and healthier future for all Nigerians”.
Dr. Tinuola Akinbolagbe, MD/CEO of PSHAN, highlighted the broader impact of the project: “The ribbon-cutting ceremony symbolizes the start of a new chapter in our mission to improve healthcare across Nigeria. The ADHFP is designed to make a substantial difference in underserved communities”.
The inauguration of these facilities represents a key moment in the Foundation’s mission to advance primary healthcare delivery.
The Aig-Imoukhuede Foundation aims to inspire further support for the ADHFP and encourage additional stakeholders to contribute to the renovation and revitalization of more PHCs throughout Nigeria.
This partnership between the Aig-Imoukhuede Foundation, PSHAN, and EdoSPHCDA exemplifies the potential of public-private collaborations in driving sustainable development and improving healthcare access across the country.
