… expresses resolve of Akoko-Edo to resist rigging
Edo State Deputy Governor, Engr. Marvellous Godwins Omobayo, has described the PDP flagbearer in the September 21 Governorship Election, Asue lghodalo, as the most qualified and credible candidate to succeed Governor Godwin Obaseki.
This is even as he likened Asue lghodalo to the popular Nigerian staple food item, ‘garri’ that requires no advertisement.
The Deputy Governor made the remarks during the PDP mega rally at the lgarra public field in Igarra, the administrative headquarters of Akoko-Edo Local Government Area.
Omobayo stated that the people of Akoko-Edo would eternally remain grateful to Governor Obaseki for liberating them from the shackles of oppression and neglect by successive administrations while affirming that the siting of a campus of Edo State Polytechnic in Igarra by the Obaseki-led administration was a catalyst for the economic prosperity of Akoko-Edo.
The Deputy Governor dismissed the antics of some disgruntled persons, under the guise of Okpameri Progressive Union, asserting that such a union does not exist. He said promoters of the fake union were disunited persons who have since lost the opportunity of feeding fat on government funds for survival.
According to Omobayo, the people of Akoko-Edo, irrespective of party affiliation, were united in their massive support for the PDP and its governorship candidate, Asue lghodalo.
He predicted an overwhelming victory for PDP at the governorship polls, assuring that the votes of the people would count because there would be no room for opposition to rig the election.
According to him: “As Deputy Governor, even if for a short period of seven months like they are saying, l will do my best to represent Akoko-Edo well and advance the interest of Edo North, Edo Central, Edo South, and Edo State in general.”
“Some of them described my appointment as a Greek gift. Whether it’s a Greek gift or a Latin gift, we have never been recognized with appointments like this in this State. I will enjoy the seven months position like seventy years and Akoko-Edo will reward PDP with our votes in this election,” Omobayo added.
