The wife of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP)’s gubernatorial candidate in the Edo State election, Mrs. Ifeyinwa Ighodalo, led a spirited campaign rally to the streets of Benin City on Tuesday, galvanizing hundreds of women from diverse sectors to drum support for her husband, Asue Ighodalo’s bid for governor.

The campaign train which kicked off from the Benin Museum at the King’s Square, saw a vibrant procession that made its way through Ring Road, Mission Road to New Benin Market, with supporters both driving and walking alongside.

Ifeyinwa, speaking during the rally, which took her through the Ring Road, Mission Road, and other streets of the state capital, urged the audience and residents in Edo to vote for her husband, whom she said, would bring prosperity to the state.

“I am here to drum up support for my husband. If elected, he would ensure that the traders and the people of the state prosper and get the dividends of democracy.

“I express gratitude for the warm reception accorded me and my entourage. I can assure you that my husband would fulfill his promise to the traders and the people of Edo State,” Ifeyinwa said.

The rally focused primarily on women, including market vendors, teachers, and representatives of Non-governmental Organisations (NGOs), coming together in a powerful show of solidarity.

Mrs. Ighodalo actively participated in the event, engaging directly with the crowd, thanking them for their support, and delivering her husband’s campaign message. She urged the women to vote for Asue Ighodalo and his running mate, Osarodion Ogie, in the upcoming September 21 Edo guber poll.
