Mrs. Ifeyinwa Ighodalo, wife of Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) candidate Asue Ighodalo, on Tuesday led a roadshow campaign in Benin City in support of her husband’s governorship bid.

The roadshow, a vibrant funfair display that kicked off from the National Museum ground, Ring Road, drew a large crowd of women from the Arewa Community and three Local Government Areas – Oredo, Ikpoba-Okha, and Egor.

The rally drew the attention of Oba Market women and passersby, generating excitement among the people.

The PDP candidate’s wife danced and urged supporters to vote for her husband, creating a carnival-like atmosphere.

During the roadshow, food items and other gift items were distributed to the different participating women’s groups and traders who expressed hopes for improved public schools and governance as their expectations and declared their support for Asue Ighodalo and Osarodion Ogie Guber ticket.

While addressing her audience, Mrs. Ighodalo urged the people to come out en masse to vote for her husband, emphasizing his capacity to deliver good governance.

Mrs. Ighodalo stated that she staged the roadshow to carry women along and show that if her husband won, he would create space for women in his government. She expressed confidence in her husband’s victory, citing his qualifications and compassion for the people.

Mrs. Philomena Osaro from Oredo Ward 3 expressed her support, saying, “Come September 21, Mr. Asue Ighodalo is going to be voted for by the people and he is going to win this election.

“Everybody is going to come out to vote for him because he has the capacity. He is a man with compassion for his people and he is very accessible. He is the man qualified to occupy the Osadebe Avenue the seat of Edo State Government House.”

Sahadashi Ahusa, a Hausa women’s group praised the development strides of Governor Godwin Obaseki and pledged her support for Mrs. Ighodalo’s campaign, saying, “My kids are attending government school, so I just want Edo Best to continue for we the poor masses.

“If the incoming governor should put more effort just like the past government for those public schools, I will highly appreciate that.”

As the election day approaches, the PDP and its guber poll candidates continue to rally support across Edo State.
