The gubernatorial candidate of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) in the forthcoming September 21 governorship election in Edo State, Engr. Osarenren Derek Izedonmwen, has been actively campaigning across the state, targeting market women, artisans, and professionals.

The ADC governorship candidate has been speaking on his manifesto, entitled “RAIISE AGENDA”, which is aimed at Rural-Revitalisation, Agriculture, Industrialisation, Infrastructure, Security, and Excellence. His campaign emphasizes economic transformation through agricultural commercialization and export-led industrialization.

At Oliha market, located at Siloko Road in Benin City, the Edo State capital, jubilant market women trooped out in their numbers to welcome the ADC governorship candidate and his campaign team. The market sang songs of praise to welcome Engr. Izedonmwen whom they have envisioned as the beacon of hope to transform their lives and that of everyone across the state.

Addressing the jubilant and excited Oliha market women, Engr. Izedonmwen pledged to support them to ensure that they and their families have food on their table. The ADC candidate assured the market women that his agricultural initiative will address the rising cost of food currently being witnessed across the state, stating that his administration will provide adequate security to ensure that farmers are able to go to their farms and also provide good roads for the farm produce to get to the market as quickly as possible.

He pledged to improve Edo State economy through agriculture and change the narrative of Nigeria being a consuming nation to a production nation by rejuvenating agriculture and agro-allied industries in the state.

Similarly, Engr. Derek Izedonmwen met with artisans at the mechanic village located at Iyaro in Benin City, where he assured the large number of artisans who came out to receive him that his industrialisation and infrastructural development agenda will improve the quality of their lives and promote their activities across the state.

He pledged to establish policy banks to provide affordable long-term credit to farmers and entrepreneurs and to support local manufacturers by improving infrastructure and expanding power supply.

The ADC candidate’s campaign seeks to challenge the dominance of the big parties, particularly the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) and the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Edo politics. He has called on Edo people to vote the ADC come September 21 to usher in a new era in Edo State.
