A farmer that is into food production for the state and the nation at large, Apostle Blessed Utomi, has blamed failure by some political office holders on the electorates.
He apportioned the blame during an interview with newsmen in his country home at Isah Ogwashi, Aniocha South Local Government Area of Delta State.
The opinion leader said many political office holders were not fulfilling their political promises because of extortions they faced from the electorates during their elections.
He said some politicians always feel that they have settled the electorates because of money demanded by them during the elections.
Apostle Utomi opined that the electorates would be bold to challenge political office holders that failed to fulfill their political promises if they (electorates) did not demand or receive gifts of any kind from the candidates before their election.
He urged the electorates to avoid receiving gift from politicians during elections, adding that they should rather, think of what to do to support the candidates going for election and not to extort them.
The community leader maintained that supporting politicians without placing any demand would enable the electorates to challenge political office holders that failed to fulfill his or her political promises.
He stressed that any politician that has spent millions of naira to secure his or her victory during the election would find it difficult to keep to his political promises because such politician, according to him, would struggle to regain his money as soon as he was elected.
Utomi called on political office holders to perform their duties diligently with the fear of God, and attract dividends of democracy to the people for them to be re-elected if the need arises in the future.
