Edo State Governor, Mr. Godwin Obaseki has presented staff of office to HRH Oba Bamidele Obaitan as the Olososo of Ososo.
The governor, who was represented by the Commissioner for Local Government, Community and Chieftaincy Affairs, Hon. Monday Osaigbovo JP, said he was delighted to be at the epoch-making occasion of the presentation of Staff of Office to his Royal Highness, Bamidele Obaitan as the Olososo (Clan Head) of Ososo.
According to the governor, “Today’s historic event is the climax of the series of traditional ceremonies to mark the ascension to the revered throne of Olososo of Ososo by HRH Bamidele Obaitan. I join the peace-loving people of the Ososo community to congratulate His Royal Highness on this land-mark event”.
He enjoined the people to collaborate with the king to bring about the needed development, peace and progress in line with the vision, programmes and policies of the state government.
The governor reiterated the fact that his administration will not tolerate any act capable of undermining the peace and tranquility in the community, and called on the people to embark on self-help projects to complement the government’s efforts.
Governor Obaseki, who charged the Oba to take decisions that would affect his subjects positively, urged him to live peacefully with neighbouring communities, noting that the government will not tolerate breakdown of law and order in any part of the state.
On his part, Akoko-Edo Local Government Council Chairman, Hon. Tajudeen Alade Suleman, Esq., sued for collaboration of all to enable the royal father to succeed in his task of presiding over Ososo people.
He disclosed that HRH Bamidele Obaitan, who was former Commissioner for Tourism and Diaspora Affairs, left the comfort of his zone in America to contribute his quota to the advancement of the state.
In his vote of thanks, Dr. Tunde Lakoju appreciated the governor for the gesture, while lauding the giant strides of the council boss during his tenure so far.
