Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu of Lagos State has announced that his state will collaborate with China, focusing on pivotal sectors such as renewable energy, healthcare, and education. Represented by his deputy, Dr. Obafemi Hamzat at the 75th-anniversary celebration of the founding of the People’s Republic of China, Governor Sanwo-Olu said he acknowledged China’s invaluable partnership which has spurred growth in the sub-Saharan region for decades.

Other dignitaries at the event include Yan Yuping, Consul-General of the People’s Republic of China (PRC) in Lagos, and Jaafaru Yakubu, Chairman of the House of Rep. Committee on Nigeria-China Relations, among others.

The governor highlighted the fruitful collaboration between Lagos State and China, citing notable infrastructure projects such as the Lekki Deep Seaport, Lekki Free Trade Zone, and Lagos-Ibadan Railway. These initiatives have not only boosted economic capacity but also created jobs and enhanced the quality of life for thousands of Nigerians.

The governor praised China’s remarkable transformation over the past 75 years, emerging as a global leader in technology, manufacturing, and economic growth. He commended the Chinese community in Lagos for promoting cultural diversity and enriching the state’s social fabric.
