Bayern Munich’s dominant 5-0 victory over Werder Bremen saw Harry Kane etch his name in the record books as the top-scoring English player in Bundesliga history.

The England captain netted his 41st league goal for Bayern, surpassing Jadon Sancho’s tally of 40 goals for Borussia Dortmund.

Kane’s landmark goal came in the 55th minute, when he slotted past Werder goalkeeper Michael Zetterer from the edge of the box. This achievement adds to his impressive record-breaking week, having become the top English scorer in Champions League or European Cup history on Tuesday with four goals in Bayern’s 9-2 win over Dinamo Zagreb.

Michael Olise and Jamal Musiala gave Bayern a two-goal lead at halftime. Olise opened the scoring in the 23rd minute, sprinting onto a lay-off from Kane before poking home. The France international then provided two assists, gracefully waltzing past four Werder players in the box to set up Musiala for an easy tap-in, and linking up with Kane for his strike.

Bayern’s convincing win ensured Vincent Kompany’s side remains top of the Bundesliga with four wins from four. Kane’s impressive goal tally came in just 36 matches, eclipsing Sancho’s record of 40 goals in 118 matches across two spells at Dortmund.

Kane’s achievement also surpasses Tony Woodcock’s 39 goals in 131 games for Cologne in the 1980s. As the top English scorer in Bundesliga history, Kane solidifies his position as one of the most prolific goal-scorers in European football.

With this remarkable feat, Kane continues to make a significant impact since joining Bayern Munich. His impressive form will undoubtedly be crucial in Bayern’s pursuit of domestic and European success this season.
